The Arch Linux 2008.06 “Overlord” images are out. This release introduces many changes, read more to see them.

Download straferight.zip and extract strafeRight folder to C:\Program Files\Steam\skins Open Steam and go to File -> Settings Select strafeRight from list of skins. Restart Steam and enjoy. If you have any issues with it please let me know.

Digsby is a new multi-protocol Instant Messenger client (like Kopete, Pidgin, or Trillian) that is currently in private beta. I got an invite code for it the other day and have been using it recently and so far I like it. My favorite IM would still be Kopete, but I think digsby is already better than Trillian and Pidgin. If you are interested you can head over to digsby.com and request an invite code to try it out. Also check out some screenshots of digsby while you are there.

Ventrilo is the Voice over IP (VoIP) group communications software, this software offers surround sound positioning and special sound effects on a per user, per channel, per server or global configuration level the program provides each user the option to fully customize exactly how they wish to hear sounds from other users or events.

Version 3.0.0 introduces more user control of how the main window is displayed. You can turn on and off the title bar, display the large buttons on the right or switch to toolbar mode with icons on the top to maximize the usable width of the window. Extended mode which hides the User Name, Server and Bindings options. Turn on and off grid lines in the user list window. You can also customize the user list window icons and toolbar icons.

Inkscape is an open source drawing tool that uses the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) scalable vector graphics format (SVG). Some supported SVG features include basic shapes, paths, text, markers, clones, alpha blending, transforms, gradients, and grouping. In addition, Inkscape supports Creative Commons’ metadata, node-editing, layers, complex path operations, text-on-path, text-in-shape, and SVG XML editing. It also imports several formats like EPS, PostScript, JPEG, PNG, BMP, and TIFF and exports PNG as well as multiple vector-based formats.

OpenArena is an open-source content package for Quake III Arena licensed under the GPL, effectively creating a free stand-alone game. You do not need Quake III Arena to play this game.

Bots were added starting in 0.6.0. They will spout taunts and everything!

Concepts would be loose, so don’t expect a remake of Klesk in his original Klesk form, or any direct remakes of any map/weapon/model.
