My new build is almost complete, only thing I am waiting on is a new CPU cooler.

My new build is almost complete, only thing I am waiting on is a new CPU cooler. I originally bought a Noctua NH-U12P but while installing it one of the screws to hold it down broke off. I just found a Prolimatech Megahalems at CrazyPC though so I am waiting on that to get here so I can swap out the stock Intel cooler I have installed at the moment. The new build is as follows:

Case: Cooler Master ATCS 840

Power Supply: Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050W

Motherboard: EVGA X58 3x SLI

CPU: Intel Core i7 920

RAM: 6GB Corsair Dominator

Video Card: EVGA GTX 285

Sound Card: HT Omega Claro Halo

Hard Drives:2x WD Caviar 1TB

Optical Drives:LG BluRay

Monitor: Samsung T240HD

Usually when I build a new PC I go with an Asus motherboard, BFG video card, and OCZ RAM, but decided to go a different route this time. I’ve heard good things about EVGA so decided to try them out, and the Corsair RAM has been getting extremely good reviews. Hopefully they can live up to what I am used to. I’m not sure about the sound card yet, as their drivers do not work with Windows 7 yet, so I am just using the onboard sound for now. The Claro Halo is a 2.1 soundcard with an onboard amp for headphones, so I am hoping it makes my HD650′s sound better than I am used to.

Everything is put together and running well, I haven’t done any benchmarks on it or overclocked it yet because I am using the stock cooler until the Megahalems gets delivered. The Cooler Master ATCS is absolutely huge and looks great. It was very easy to put everything together inside. It was also a lot quieter than I thought it would be. I couldn’t hear it at all when my Shuttle was on next to it and could hear my other desktop running downstairs louder than the new build as well. The Samsung T240HD looks great, 24″ widescreen with a native resolution of 1900×1200 and it has a TV Tuner built in. I played a little Left 4 Dead and it looked good, steady 60fps with no ghosting or tearing.

Like all my other PC’s the new build is named after a Quake 3 character, this time I went with Anarki to join the .quake network I run at home along with Phobos, Xaero, Orbb, Klesk/Flisk, Visor, Wrack, and Tank Jr.

That’s all I have for now, hopefully this week the new cooler comes in and I can run some benchmarks. I also got a few LED lights and a fan controller from CrazyPC as well to finish the build.

The newest PC of mine finally arrived from Newegg and is put together. It was about time to upgrade my tower, but with the strafeRight LAN coming up, I decided to build a Shuttle to take instead of my Thinkpad. Spending a week gaming on the laptop would be OK, but I’d much rather have something a little more powerful. Here is the rundown of what I got:

Shuttle SX38P2-Pro

BFG Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB

4GB OCZ Vista Upgrade RAM – DDR2 800 PC2 6400

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 – 2.66GHz

2x WD Caviar 250GB Hard Drives

SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R Burner SATA

Vista Home Premium 32bit

And here are some pics of phobos, the newest addition to .quake (All my computers are named after Quake3 characters – xaero, klesk, visor, orbb, tankjr – and .quake is the domain I use for my network.)
