Going into the last week of the regular season, Augsburg's men's soccer team has moved into one of the most important rankings of all -- the NCAA Division III regional rankings. In the latest rankings released today, the Auggies are ranked No. 5 in the West Region. Carleton leads the West Region rankings, followed by Loras (Iowa), Redlands (Calif.), Whitworth (Wash.), Augsburg, St. Thomas and Chapman (Calif.)....2008 MLS Schedule
Major League Soccer, together with its national television networks - ESPN2 and ABC, Fox Soccer Channel/Fox Sports en Español, HDNet and TeleFutura - has unveiled the 2008 Regular Season schedule. Major League Soccer's four national television partners will again combine to broadcast 113 games. In the League's 13th season, each of the 14 clubs will play 30 Regular Season games over 31 weeks, for a total of 210 matches from March 29 - Oct. 26. Each team will play each other twice (home and away), for 26 games. The remaining four games will be played against different intra-conference teams (two home and two away), with consideration given to rivalries. ...USA v Mexico Match Report
The U.S. Men’s National Team continued their dominating undefeated streak at home against Mexico this evening with an exciting 2-2 draw in front of 70,103 fans at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The match was a high-paced affair, with the U.S. jumping out to a 2-1 lead at halftime, only to surrender the tying goal just two minutes into the second half to Mexico’s Jonny Magallón, who had both goals for the Tri-Colores. The U.S. goals came from defender Oguchi Onyewu and 18-year-old Jozy Altidore, making his first start for the United States. ...League Football - It's Time To Move On
Chris Willaims over on Goal.com has written a great editorial about how soccer’s biggest clubs have outgrown the domestic game, and it is time for a European Super League. The thing about the article that got my attention though was a little bit about the Big Four in England. Since the beginning of the 2004/2005 season, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United combinded have played 236 league games at home to sides not in the Big Four. Out of those 236 games, they’ve lost just five! And of the five defeats, three of them were at the hands of West Ham! Below is a little snippet of the editorial, be sure to read the full editorial....Roster for USA v Mexico
U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Bob Bradley has named the 22 players that will travel to Houston to prepare for the upcoming showdown with Mexico at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The match will be part of a two-and-half-hour broadcast window on both ESPN2 and Univision beginning at 8 p.m. CT. Fans will also be able to listen to the match on 75 affiliates of the Fútbol de Primera Radio Network, and can follow live online via ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker. More than 53,000 tickets have been sold for the second-ever meeting between the teams at Reliant Stadium. On May 8, 2003, nearly 70,000 fans packed the house to witness a fiercely contested 0-0 draw. The U.S. is currently riding an 8-0-1 unbeaten run on home soil against Mexico. ...New USA 08 Home Kit
US Soccer has unveiled the new 2008 Home kits, and once again they are a completely new style. The new kits are white and gray hoops with red piping, to me it looks more like a golf shirt than anything. In the last few years we have had white with a red and blue vertical stripe, blue with white and red horizontal stripe, royal blue with white pinstripes, red with white and blue sash (the "Don't Tread On Me" kit that I wish we would keep), white with red and blue sides, red and white stripes, stonewashed blue with white stars, vanilla and blue, and white with blue and red diagonal stripes on shoulder and shorts. While the kit has kept the red, white, and blue, the actual design changes way too much. Other countries keep the same colors as well as the same basic designs, only changing small things, usually due to kit manufacturers chaning templates....Beckham coming to MN
Are you ready for Copa Minnesota? David Beckham and the LA Galaxy are coming to the Dome to play an exhibition match against a to be determined team this October. The Minnesota Thunder will officially announce the match tommorow at a press conference. So far it is not known who the Galaxy will play, there is speculation that it is a team from "south-of-the-border". The match is scheduled for 8pm on October 10th, but that may move if the Twins reach the ALCS and have a home game that Wednesday. Tickets will be going on sale at 4pm today, starting at $40 up to $175 for field seats. The Thunder's Director of Soccer Operations Manny Lagos has said he hopes the exhibition will break what he considers the record attendance for Minnesota soccer - 46,164 fans for the Minnesota Kicks vs. New York Cosmos in 1976. In 1984 The Minnesota Strikers drew 52,000 with a Beach Boys concert held after the game. ...MLS 2007 All Star Voting

CHICAGO (Wednesday, May 16) - U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati named Bob Bradley as Head Coach of the U.S. Men's National Team at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Bradley, who becomes the 33rd coach in MNT history, is currently preparing the United States for two major tournaments in June and July, the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the Copa America in Venezuela.

Initially named interim head coach of the U.S. National Team on December 8, 2006, the team has posted a 3-0-1 record during his stewardship while scoring eight goals and conceding only two. David Beckham will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and join side Los Angeles Galaxy on a £128million ($250 million) five-year deal. The former England captain will leave Real in June and begin his new career in Major League Soccer in August. In terms of finances it is a mega deal and compares with the biggest in mainstream US sports American football and baseball. The MLS have recently changed their salary cap rules to allow sides to make marquee signings of top international stars. The Beckham deal will see the 31-year-old benefit directly from all his image rights and related sponsorship deals which in the past have had to be shared with his club. Beckham said in a statement: This week, Real Madrid asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract by a further two seasons. After discussing several options with my family and advisers to either stay here at Madrid or join other major British and European clubs, I have decided to join the Los Angeles Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year....
